  A Merry Christmas To All

The staff at CFS would like to wish all our visitors and members a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2008.

We won't be publishing the newsletter on December 21st or 28th, and we will have only minimum staff on duty from December 17.

The office will be fully staffed again on January 2nd, 2008 and our next newsletter will be published on the 4th.

Wise men are still seeking Jesus!
=: remember that Jesus is the reason for the season :=

CFS is a “Members-only” site
Completely FREE Software (CFS) is a “members-only” site. The freeware listing pages can only be accessed by our members.

To find out more about becoming a CFS member, visit our Membership Information page.

CFS members have full, unrestricted access to the site for the period of their membership. We do not charge to download the freeware listed on this site (even when we are hosting it ourselves) and we do not charge on a “per visit” basis. Software listed on this site is “completely free” as advertised and no payment to any software author is necessary (see our Charter below).

For more information, read the Membership FAQs.

If you are an author of freeware listed on this site, please read the FAQ: Now you are a “members-only” site, how can I check my listing?.

The CFS site has links to thousands of completely free – and legal – Windows and DOS programs. Many of these freeware programs are hosted on the CFS server and some are not available anywhere else. We have access to archives dating back to the early 1980s!

Only CFS members can access the freeware listings on this site. Find out about CFS membership from our Members Information page. Members have unlimited access to the entire site for the period of their membership.

There is no fee to members to access a program listing or to download a freeware program from the CFS server. There is also no limit placed on how often a member may use the site during the period of his or her membership.

Please note that a subscription in our free weekly newsletter does not constitute membership in the CFS site.

If you are unsure of the differences between shareware, freeware and public domain software, please view our definitions page.

Because of the interest in advertiser supported software (often called ‘adware’ and sometimes ‘spyware’) CFS has posted some information on this subject.

Our Charter

To list the very best software which is completely free for non-commercial use. Freeware programs listed do not time-out, are fully functional (though they may be ‘lite’ versions of commercial or shareware programs) and the author does not demand payment for the continued use of the program.

They must be designed for use on the DOS platform (MS-DOS compatible) and/or for use with Microsoft Windows versions designed for home or domestic use (includes Windows 3.x, Windows 95 & 98, Windows ME, and Windows XP Home Edition).
